Homunculus

Homunculus are a species of Virtual Monsters that resemble human being. They are not human but, they will never try to pass off as being human, nor will they try to deceive people as being a human being. Though, at times, it is very difficult to tell them apart from other humans, especially human children. It is said that Homunculus were actually the ancient Virtual Monsters attempt at creating human life in the Virtual World. They were very fascinated at the Evolutionary power that Tamers could tap into with their Virtual Drive. And as such, they created Homunculus except, their experiment did not succeed. They succeeded in creating another species of Virtual Monster. The ancient Virtual Monsters tried to enslave the Homunculus but, eventually fought back and managed to gain their freedom. They have a species rivalry with Constructs because they were both created by the ancient Virtual Monsters. With this in mind, the Homunculus do not like being called human and embrace their life as a Virtual Monster. More importantly, as the Homunculus have proclaimed, they failed to create an actual human because they cannot exist outside of the Virtual World without a Virtual Soul. So while they are capable of human thoughts and emotions, much like any other Virtual Monster, they cannot exist outside the Virtual World without a Virtual Soul. Homunculus are one of the three alchemical species of Virtual Monsters along with Constructs and Mutants.
